Buying the Right Consumer Units is Just Part of Being a Good Electrician
Installing the right switchgear is an important part of the electrician’s craft, for both major commercial jobs and ordinary houses. In the latter case, a good electrician needs a good supplier for the sort of consumer units that are required for home use. It is not enough to have the expertise to judge the switchgear needs of a particular house; the equipment used to meet those needs should be selected with care. A good electrician is one who knows exactly where to find up-to-date switching components that comply with the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations. What is required is the sort of responsive, full-service supplier that carries ample stocks of breakers, switch fusers, and consumer units from the top manufacturers, such as Merlin Gerin, Hager, and Eaton MEM. All of the design skills and installation know-how in the world will not help an electrician who tries to complete a job with sub-standard parts.
