Amazon Likely to Launch 2 Kindle Fire Models This Year
There are suggestions that Amazon will likely launch two Kindle Fire models this year: a new 7-inch device and a larger 9-inch model that will compete directly with Apple’s iPad. Kindle Fire Review Reveals Good, BAD and the UGLY of the Amazon Tablet and Compares to Apple iPad.
Courtesy of Pacific Crest Analyst Chad Bartley, the recent rumors was not the first to forecast a 9-inch Kindle Fire. In November last year, Digitimes reported that Amazon was developing a larger Kindle Fire model that features an 8.9-inch screen.
According to several reports, if Bartley’s sources were reliable, Amazon will probably launch its new 9-inch Kindle Fire model by mid-2012. However, many tech analysts said the next Kindle Fire model will feature a much larger screen, probably by up to 10 inches. The current Fire model is only 7 inches wide, which become one of the winning factors for the device.
The 7-inch Fire model is small enough to gain its use as a shopping assistant. Equipped with a camera feature, the device is dubbed as the next generation of augmented reality (AR) tools that demonstrate computer-generated information over a real-world view.
